Regina Spektor is the songwriter whose music was heard over the final moments of Prince Caspian. I had the opportunity to meet her at the premiere, and she told me, then, what she wrote here. That she was shaking when the movie was ending. She wrote in her MySpace Blog about her experiences writing for Prince Caspian:

i had an amazing spring last spring. i got called up and asked if i wanted to see an unfinished Disney movie called “Narnia: Prince Caspian”. I said of course, i love movies. So me and my manager went to a movie theater all by ourselves, and were shown the movie by Monica (who ended up being my Disney fairy godmother, but i didn’t know it at the time) and it was incredible on all kinds of levels… actually some of its magic was from being unfinished- one minute there’s an animal, the next it’s just a pencil drawing… all the centaurs were just guys pacing around in funny pants… i loved everything about it, but then it was over, and i was supposed to have drinks with my very good friends. Who canceled on me. So i went home. And wrote a song for the movie, and i was sure no one would let it actually be in the movie. But they did. And 3 days later i was in London, at Abbey Road studios, listening to Harry Gregson Williams, the composer of the score, and very talented and lovely human, record an 80 person choir… and i was meeting Andrew Adamson the wonderful director, and all the amazing people who work on movies, and then going into Studio B, the one and only, and recording “The Call” into Beatles gear… in their room… with Strings and a horn and a harp… yes, i know. it sounds like my own Disney movie… but it was real, and it was awesome, and i still can’t believe it happened… at the premier i had to hold it together when i heard the song come on, for the next 15 minutes my knees were shaking… movies are intense… i’m so happy i had this experience…

Jack the Ripper

Jack the ripper memang sangatlah terkenal, mungkin malah yang paling terkenal karena kekejamannya dalam pembunuhan dan yang paling hebat adalah sampai sekarang identitasnya belum diketahui sampai saat ini. Pada tahun 1888-1891 nama itu menjadi teror oleh penduduk London's East End. Fakta-fakta yang ada sulit untuk mengidentifikasi siapa sebenarnya Jack the Ripper karena beberapa pencurian kecil, hilang dan juga hancur karena waktu.

Pada tanggal 3 April 1888 terjadi pembunuhan mengerikan yang tidak bisa, Emma Elizabeth Smith Assault ditemukan di Osbon Street, dan bukan hanya itu saja, pada tanggal 7 Agustus Martha Tabram ditemukan di Yard Building's, George Yard. 31 Agustus 188 Mary Ann Nichols Buck Row dan yang lainnya..

Pembunuhan yang dilakukan oleh Jack the Ripper sangatlah mengerikan pertama ia menggorok leher korbannya, lalu isi perut korban ditemukan berhamburan keluar, biji matanya tercongkel serta kaki dan tangan dipisahkan dari badan korban. Masing-masing potongan tubuh korban diamil dan dikirimkan ke kepolisian London bersama sebuah surat. Tetapi ada juga yang mengatakan bahwa rahim korban juga diambil.

Ada dugaan-dugaan yang berasal dari warga seperti jack memiliki rasa takut yang mendalam terhadap wanita  yang menjadi kebencian dengan mengambil "rahim" dari korban (sesuatu yang hanya dimiliki oleh wanita), Jack juga dikabarkan pernah disakiti dan dihianati oleh pacarnya yang berprofesi sebagai wanita tuna susila (pelacur), Jack juga dikabarkan memiliki masa lalu yang kelam (apakah karena ia tidak bisa mempunyai anak atau bagaimana?)

Jack The Ripper tidak meninggalkan bukti satupun dalam tindakan kriminalnya, pola pembunuhannyapun tidak diketahui, bahkan bisa dibilang acak, kecuali sebuah pesan yang ditulis dengan kapur pada dinding "The Juwes are the men that will not be blamed for nothing". Satu-satunya persamaan antara korban-korbannya ialah mereka berprofesi sebagai Wanita Tuna Susila. Jack membunuh tanpa ampun dan hanya beraksi kurang dari setahun tetapi diapun menjadi legenda pembuh yang sadis karena belum dapat terungkap identitasnya.

Pada tanggal 25th September 1888 Jack mengirimkan kepadan Central New Agency yang dialamatkan kepada "Dear Boss" dan ditulis dengan tinta merah.

Beberapa hari kemudian sebuah kartu pos tiba di Central news Agency berlumuran darah. Tampaknya dalam tulisan yang sama dan pembunuhan ganda terjadi pada malam sebelumnya sehingga polisi berfikir mungkin 2 benda tersebut asli dari Jack.

Gambar ketika di sini menunjukan surat yang dikirim langsung ke "Kantor Detektif' dari Scotland Yard dan yang diterima pada 9 Oktober 1888. Penulis menuliskan rencana untuk membunuh 15 orang dan kemudian dirinya sendiri dalam rangka 'to cheat the scaffold'. Surat ini, seperti mayoritas yang diterima oleh Scotland Yard, sangat tidak mungkin telah ditulis oleh individu yang melakukan pembunuhan.

Satu surat (tidak ada gambar) dikirim pada tanggal 16 ke Gorge Lusk -yang adalah kepala dari Komite Kewaspadaan Mile End- datang bersama dengan sepotong ginjal manusia, yang penulis mengklaim telah diambil dari Kate Eddowes, salah satu korban. Dia menangatangani suratnya "From Hell"

Pembunuhan Jack the Ripper tetap menjadi misteri besar yang belum terpecahkan. Sedikit yang diketahui dari pembunuhan-pembunuhan yang terjadi kecuali antara bulan Agustus dan November 1888, enam pelacur ditemukan mengerikan dibuniuh di daerah satu mil persegi East End London. Frekuensi serangan teror disebabkan karena ketidakberdayaan kepolisian. Beberapa pria memang pernah ditangkap, tetapi semua dibebaskan karena kurang bukti yang kuat.


Entah bagaimana pembunuh itu tidak pernah tertangkap dan menjadikan dirinya teror yang amat sangat di London pada saat itu.

Hari ini adalah hari Ulang tahun Icon :D

Jadi pagi-pagi jam 3 pagi, aku dibangunkan oleh papa dan mama untuk tidur di atas (karena kita tidur di lantai bawah)

Begitu udah di atas dengan mata terkantuk-kantuk, aku liat jam di dinding. "Oh jam 3 pagi" gumamku biasa. Lalu aku ke tempat tidur dan mulai berpikir ada yang aneh, Ada hal yang aku belum lakukan pada hari ini.
